TROTWOOD in IRELAND
TROTWOOD at home in Gortadoo (na gorta dubha) photo by Aodan o'Conchuir, baile an fheirtearaigh
Some twenty-five years ago, TROTWOOD travelled to Kerry, fell in love with the Dingle Peninsula, and have been seen there ever since. Most of their time is spent travelling England, Ireland and the continent where they average three concerts per week. In an area that abounds with brilliant traditional musicians, TROTWOOD can hold their own. They play Irish music exceptionally well, their repertoire is vast, and their singing provides welcome variety. In addition, they are a pleasure to watch - there is infectious delight in their music that can be seen in the faces of the audience. You are guaranteed an entertaining evening with TROTWOOD. As a family, TROTWOOD lived in the West of Ireland and in Cork. Having now settled in France, they keep going back and have since spent every summer in Ireland. Their programme is mostly tunes and songs they collected there along the years.

harpe irlandaise, Irish harp accordéon diatonique (bosca ceol) Irish button accordion violon (fiddle)
banjo, guitars violoncelle (cello)
TROTWOOD: 4 singers who also play a variety of instruments: the Irish Harp, the fiddle, the Irish diatonic button accordeon (bosca ceol),the Irish flute and tinwhistles, and also the mouth organ, banjo guitars and cello...
Their wide repertoire, songs, jigs, reels, polkas, slides, hornpipes, planxtys, ballads has its roots in the traditionally oral Irish pub and farm culture. They also write and compose their own songs and tunes.
